Welsh mutton

A choice and delicate kind of mutton obtained from a small breed of sheep fed on the Welsh mountains. Welsh-onion, s. [Lit. the foreign onion.] A name given to Allium fistulosum . It has a very small bulb, but large, succulent, fistular leaves, which have a strong flavor.
