(Zool.) See SCARAB EIDE. Dun'glison, ROBLEY, an eminent American physician and medical writer, B. in England, 1798. After practising medicine for some years in London, he emigrated to the U. States, and in 1824 was appointed profe or of medicine in the University of Virginia. Three years later he filled the chair of materia medic a and therapeutics in the University of Maryland, and, in 1836, was elected to the profe orship of medicine in Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. His medical works are very numerous, and have pa ed through many editions. Among the principal are the Principles of Human Physiology (1832); Dictionary of Medical Science and Literature (1833); and General Therapeutics and Materia Medica (1836). D. 1869. [s. 307]
