timberyard

A yard or place where timber is stored. *tim-ber (2), s. [Fr. timbre ; Sw. timber ; Low Ger. timmer; Ger. zimmer=a certain number of skins. Remote etym. doubtful.] An old mercantile term, used in England and Scotland to denote a certain number of skins, in the case of the skins of martens, ermine, sables, and the like, 40; of other skins, 130.
