WINSLOW, EDWARD

(1595-1655), one of the ‘pilgrims’ who sailed for American in the Mayflower. He came of an old English family. W. took an active part in the life and organization of the Plymouth colony in New England and returned to Engand on one or two occasions as agent for the settlers, He was made governor of the colony in 1624 and was several times re-elected,
