COUMARIC ACID

n. Ku-ma2r'i2k. Fr., acide coumarique. Ger., Cumarins a ure. It., acido cumarico. Sp., dcido cumdrico. An acid, C9H8O3 = CgH^g ^ CQ QH, forming one of the constituents of melilot. It forms colorle , shining, prismatic crystals, which are readily soluble in hot water and in alcohol, and melt at 195 C. [B, 4, 5, 158 (a, 24).] See also PARACODMARIC ACID. [s. 428]
