is a small instrument used for gla -blowing, for soldering metals, and in analytical chemistry and mineralogy for ascertaining the nature of a substance by continuous and great heat. When a cylinder of quicklime is heated by it, a most dazzling light is produced, rivalling even the electric light in its brilliance. That is called the Drummond Light.
