Cyanometer

[Gr. kyanos, and metron, measure.) An instrument contrived by Sau ure for determining the deepne of the tint of the atmosphere. A circular band of thick paper or pasteboard is divided into fifty one parts, each of of which is painted with a different shade of blue, decreasing gradually from the deepest blue formed by a mixture of black, to the lightest formed by a mixture of white. The colored zone is held in the hand of the observer, who notices the particular tint which corresponds to the color of the sky. The number of this tint, reckoned from the lightest shade, marks the intensity at the time of observation. Cyanop'athy, n. [Gr. kyanos, and pathos, suffering.] ( Med.)
