(pal' -mis-tre). The omparative study of the lines, marks, and mounds on he palm of the hand; it has been made the basis of system of fortune-telling. Ilmitamid (pal-mif -am-id), A solid substance melting at about 930 '., formed by the union of the amid radicle of amlonia and the radicle of palmitic acid. Fimitic Acid (pal-mit'-ik). See Acid . Flmitin (pal' ' -A mit - in)crystallizable. solid substance which, nth stearin, constitutes the greater proportion of solid ats. It occurs both in animal and in vegetable fats, t is a constituent of palm-oil, from which it derives s name. Chemically, it is the tri palmitate of F mitolic Acid (pal-mit-ol'-ik). See Acid . F mitone (pal'-mit-on), I ketone of palmitic acid resulting when the latter is is tilled with slaked lime. Fmitoxylic Acid (pal-mit-oks-il'-ik). See Acid . F mi-veined (pal'-miv-and). In biology, netted-veined, with the veins •bating from the base toward the margin of the leafade. Pmodic (palmod' - ik). irtaining to, resembling, or affected with, palm us. P mo-plantar (pal' - mo -plan' - tar). Pertaining to both the ilms of the hands and the soles of the feet. P.antar Sign, Sign; said to be diagnos: of typhoid fever. It consists of an orange or safm coloration of the prominent parts of the palms the hands and the soles of the feet.
