[NL., Par the nope an (pär-the-no-pe'an), a. [ II. n. A member of the family Parthenopida . Parthenopidæ (pär-the-nop'i-dē), n . pl. [NL., Par the nope + -idæ .] A family of brachyurous decapod crustaceans, typified by the genus Par the nope. They have a more or le triangular carapace, small sub circular orbits, and slender antennæ whose basal joints are very small. The species chiefly inhabit warm seas. They are sometimes known as long -armed crabs .
