(1868). Graduated from the University of Michigan, 1889, and took postgraduate course in medicine in England, France, Germany, Switzerland_and Belgium. Received Hon. A.M., Lawrence University, 1897, Hahnemann College, Phila., 1921. Was house surgeon of the University Hospital fram 1889-90, and profe or of ophthalmology from 18951908 at the University of Michigan. Served as Dean of New York Homeopathic Medical College and Flower Hospital and as a profe or of ophthalmology from 1908 to 1918. Appointed commi ioner of public health and president of the Board of Health, New York City, 1918. Was a member of the New York State Committee Medical Section of the Council of National Defense in 1917. Author of Refraction (text-book), 1899-1905; Scientific Reasonablene of Homeopathic, 1909. Elected in 1922 to the United States Senate from the State of New York. Term will expire, 1929.
