MICHAEL, 1737-1806. German musician, brother of the greater Joseph; from 1762 in the service of the Abp. of Salzburg. He devoted himself chiefly to ch, music. Haydon, BENJAMIN ROBERT, 1786-1846. English painter and critic, first to appreciate the Elgin Marbles, which were neglected by all other critics, 1807-15; a fine draughtsman but inferior colorist.
