(at’-ar) [Arab, itr, perfume]. A general name for any of the volatile oils. A. of Rose, Oil of Rose. The volatile oil distilled from the fresh flowers of the Damascene rose. It comes mainly from eastern Roumelia and is generally adulterated with other volatile oils. It is used as a perfume. 99
