or Devons hire, (děv'n, děv'n-shur,) a S. co. of England, b. N. and N.W. by the Bristol Channel, E. and N.E. by Dorset and Somerset, S. and S.E. by the British Channel, and W. by Cornwall. Area, 2,580 sq. m. The surface is hilly in some parts, particularly in Fig. 260.-DEVON BULL the tracts of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Soil, generally highly fertile.
