Beds. 1885–6, contested Beds. 1886; sheriff of Beds. 1877; the first president of London chamber of commerce 25 Jany. 1882; chairman of Bedford shire county council 1889; an extensive breeder of shorthorns and cart-horses; inherited from his father a collection of historical pictures and objects of med iæval art. d. 16 Charles st.
