taerometer

[In Fr. aéromètre, fr. Gr. ἀήρ (α) = the air; μέτρον ( metron ) = a measure.] In a general sense: Any instrument for "measuring the air." Specially: An instrument invented by Dr. Marcus Hunt, and used (1) for ascertaining the density or rarity of air, and (2) for making the nece ary corrections in ascertaining the mean bulk of gases.
