Pilleus, pilleum

(pil’e-us, pil’e-um) [L. for cas]. The membrane which sometimes covers a child's head at birth. Ῥ. ventric’ull, the first or ascending portion of the duodenum; also called pyloric cap. of aloin, y gr. of extract of belladonna, and gs pilocarpidin (pi-lo-kar’pid-in). A sytup-like alka- gr. of strychnin. Add is on’s p., a pill of calomel, digitalis, and squills. Aitken’ Β Ῥ., a pill containing reduced i iron, % er.; quinin sulphate, ι gr.; strychnin and arsenic trioxid, shy gr. each. - derson’s p., the compound gamboge pill. Baillie’s p., Guy’ sp. Barker’s postpartum p., 2 laxative pill containing colocynth, hyoscyamus, nux loid, C,oH,,N.0,, from jaborandi. pilocarpin (pi-lo-kar’pin). A powerfully sudorific alkaloid, C,,H,,N,0,, from jaborandi. Many of its salts have been medicinally employed. Dose of hydro chlorid and of nitrate, g—} gr. (0.co1- 0.033 gm.). vomica, aloes, ipecac, and podophyllum. Bec- Pilocarpus (pi-lo-kar’pus) [Gr. πῖλος cap + καρπός querel’s p’s, quinin sulphate, 24 gr.; extract of digitalis, 3 gr.; colchicum seed, 8 gr.: to make 10 fruit].
