Horr, Roswell

G., politician, was born at Waitsville, Vt., Nov. 26, 1830; pa ed his youth in Lorain co., Ohio, graduated at Antioch College (1857), studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1863. In 1865 he removed to Mi ouri and engaged in a mining busine , but went from there to Saginaw, Mich., in 1872, where he resumed the practice of law. He was elected to Congre in 1878-80-82, but defeated in 1884; was notable as a campaign orator and debater. After 1891 Mr. H. was on the staff of the New York Tribune, contributing special signed articles. He was an active "sound money" advocate during the campaign of 1896, and prior to that had engaged in public debate on the currency question with Hon. W. M. Stewart in 1893 and W. H. Harvey ("Coin") in 1895. Died Dec. 18, 1896.
