, daughter of Cadmus and Hermione, married Echion, by whom she had Pen the us, who was torn to pieces by the Bacchanals. See: Pen the us . She is said to have killed her husband in celebrating the orgies of Bacchus. She received divine honours after death, because she had contributed to the education of Bacchus.
