skrofu-la, n. (Med.) A constitutional dis splashing, ease, generally hereditary, which affects the lymn. phatic glands, oftenest those of the neck; king's sculls, evil. [L. scrofulse, scrofulous swellings, pi. of scrof- Scullery, ula, a little pig, dim. of scrofa, a breeding sow, etc., perh. because swine are subject to that complaint, where or by comparison of the swellings to little pigs: of. swiller, Gr. choir a des, scrofulous glands, choiros, a pig; Sicilian, L. scrobs, a ditch see Scribe, Screw.] — Scrofconfused ulous, -u-lus, a. Pert, to, or diseased with, scrofula.
