[ Gr.spodios =ash-gray; suffix -ite ( Min.).] Min .: A rare mineral occurring in prismatic crystals of the orthorhombic system in Wermland, Sweden. Hardne , 5.0; specific gravity, 2.94; luster dull, vitreous; fracture, uneven. Eliminating impurities, it is e entially a calcium phosphate and fluoride. Dana suggests that it may be pseudomorphous. spō-dite, subst. [Gr. spodos =ashes; suff. -ite ( Min.).] Petrol.: Fine volcanic ashes. spod-ô-măn-çỹ, subst.
