Intussusception

(in-tus-sus-sep’-shun). The reception of one part of the intestine into another; common in children, and causes intestinal obstruction, with the pa age of blood and mucus per anum, and frequent vomiting. The condition must be promptly remedied, and this almost always nece itates immediate laparotomy. Great attention to the diet ordered is nece ary in these cases.
