Infant

One whom the law declares in com pent because of age. The period of non-age is not the same in all systems of jurisprudence. In English law it ends with the beginning of the day preceding the twenty-first birthday. The infant's disabilities are imposed as a protection, and the law strives to prevent his using them to the injury of others. As a rule prevent an infant's contracts are voidable by him, but not by the adult contracting party. Non-age is not a defense to a tort or a crime, except in the case of the very young, nor to an obligation imposed by law, as to pay for nece aries.
