Tarsiidæ (tarsiide)

[NL., 6192 mam me besides two inguinal ones; the fibula partially ankylosed with the tibia; the second and third digits of the foot armed with subulate claws, the rest with flattened nails; a peculiar tarsus (see tarsier ); and the orbits of the eyes partially closed behind by the union of the ali sphenoid and malar bones. [NL., Tarsipes ( -ped -)+- idæ .] The Tarsiped inæ rated as a separate family. Tarsiped inæ (tärsi-pe-dīnē), n. pl. [NL., Tarsipes ( -ped- ) + -inæ.] A subfamily of Pha langistidæ, typified by the genus Tarsipes, sometimes raised to the rank of a family.
