DIPYRE

(Yunanca köken — orijinale bakınız.) This mineral was originally confounded wiih picnite. It is found in the Western Pyrenees. When heated before the blowpipe, it first becomes phosphorescent, and then fuses: characters by which it is distinguished from picnite. It occurs in white or reddish white transparent or translucent crystals, of a prismatic form; its specific gravity is 2-63. It is hard enough to scratch gla . It is a silicate of alumina and lime.
