a city of Kentucky, in Anderson co., of which it is the county seat. It is on the Louisville and Nashville, Illinois Central and other railroads, and on the Ohio River. It is the center of an extensive timber, coal and salt region. It is connected by steamship lines with Louisville, Memphis and other points on the river and from it are shipped large quantities of tobacce and grain. Its industries include tobacco factories, car works, lumber mills, and carriage and wagon factories. It has alse plants for the making of flour products, wool products, and churns, Pop. 1920, 12,169.
