[s. 740] : A town in Shantung, China, Station situated 35 miles S. S. E. of Tsi-nan-fu. of the North China Mi ion (SPG auxiliary) (1878), with (1900) 2 mi ionaries, one of them with his wife, and 1 native worker. Also station of the ME, with (1903) 1 mi ionary and his wife, 2 women mi ionaries, 19 native workers, 8 outstations, 10 places of worship, 4 Sunday schools, 3 day schools, 2 boarding schools, 1 dispensary, and 304 profe ed Christians, of whom 100 are communicants. Station also of the Independent Baptist Mi ion Movement, with 7 mi ionaries, five of them with their wives, and 1 woman mi ionary. Some write the name Tai-an or Tai-au-fu. 740
