(Fr. emefaude.) A mineral of a beautiful green colour, which occurs in prismatic crystals, and is much valued for ornamental jewellery. The finest are obtained from Peru. It consistsofGS silica, IGalumina, 13 glucina, about 3 oxide of chromium (which is the colouring matter), and a trace of lime. {Vauquelin.)
