belfry turret (belfrituret)

A turret attached to an angle of a tower or belfry, to receive the stairs which give acce to its upper stories. Belfry-turrets are polygonal, square, or round in external plan, but always round within for convenient adaptation to winding stairs. belgardt (bel-gärd'), n. [ or glance.
