market cross

A cro set up to denote where a market is held. They were sometimes of very elaborate design. bốil, boy; pout, jowl; cat, çell, chorus, "Proclaim'd at market - cro es, read in churches." Shakesp.: Henry IV., Pt. I., v. 1. chin, bench; go, gem; thin, this;
