Episode

(ép'e-sōd.) [From Gr. epi, at, and eisodos, an entrance.] (Lit.) In the old Greek drama, the eisodos signified the entrance of the chorus on the stage, and the epeisodion, that portion of the play which intervened between two verbal songs. In its more general sense, a minor and digre ive story or interlude which a writer adds to the plot or main story of the piece by way of introducing variety and holding the reader's interest in po e.
