Tauscher, 3 operas without great succe , 1892. 101 GAFORIO Gaforio (ga-f5'-rio), [sometimes spelled Gafori, Gafun, etc.], Franchino, theorist. b Lodi, Jan. 14, 1451 d Alilan, June 24, 1522. Lived m many Italian cities, Mantua, Verona, Naples (whence he was driven by plague), finally at Milan, where he was singer and master of boys m cath., first singer in choir of Ludovico Sforza, founder of music-school; writings on theory valuable at time, histoiically interesting for evidence in contest between schools of Milan and Bologna.
