Clymer, George

(1739-1813), of Pennsylvania, signer of the Declaration (although not present at its adoption). In 1775 he became continental treasurer, and was a member of Congre in 1776, 1777 and 1780. In 1778 he, with John Nixon, organized the Bank of North America, He was a member of the convention that framed the Federal Constitution, and elected to the first Congre held under its provisions.
