TENSION

A feeling of fullne or resistance in the pulse. [K.] Elastic t. The application of traction to a part by means of an elastic material. [Roberts, "Illustr. Quart, of Med. and Surg.," July, 1882, p. 77.] Elastic t. of the lung. The distention of the lung by gas or fluid due to the elasticity of the organ. [Landois (a, 34).] Intra-ocular t. See Intra-ocular PRESSURE. Muscular t. The state of moderate contraction of muscles or groups of muscles which occurs when they are stretched by pa iye movements or by the voluntary contraction of their antagonizing muscles.
