Sir Richard ( 2 son of Matthew Church of Cork ). b. 1784; ensign 13 foot 3 July 1800; major 1 Greek light infantry 9 Sep. 1809; lieut.-col. 2 Greek light infantry 19 Nov. 1812 to 1815 when both regiments (which he had raised) were disbanded; commander in chief in Sicily 1820; generali imo of Greek army 1827–8 and 1832–43 when he joined the revolutionary party; C.B. 4 June 1815; knighted at Carlton house 12 June 1822; G.C.H. 1837. d. Athens 20 March 1873.
