Shave

Smith's Financial Dictionary · 1903 · p. 476
An extra discount; a premium in addition to the rate of interest allowed by law.. If a borrower receives $5,000 and gives his note for $6,000, with interest, the difference of $1,000 is a shave. To buy a note or other paper at a greater reduction than the amount of the legal rate of interest is to shave it.
