(notsh). An indentation or depre ion; chiefly one on the edge of a bone or other organ. acetab Ὦ. See cotyloidn. aorticn. See dicrotic n. auricular n. Same as inctsura Sant or in i. cardiac n., a depre ion in the anterior border of the left lung for the apex of the heart. cerebellar n., the incisura cerebelli. clavicular n., a notch at the upper end of the sternum for the articulation of the clavicle. coracoid n., a depre ion at the upper edge of the scapula at the root of the coracoid proce . Called also semilunar n. cotyloid n., a notch in the acetabulum near the obturator foramen. Called also acetabular n. craniofacial n., an opening in the bony partition between the orbital and nasal cavities. dicrotic n., the depre ion on the sphygmogram of a dicrotic pulse-wave which separates the primary from the dicrotic elevation. It is caused by closure of the aortic valves, and is also called aortic n. ethmoid n., the notch between the orbital plates of the frontal bone. fibular n., a depre ion in the lower end of the tibia for articulation with the fibula. iliosciatic n., the greater sciatic notch. interclavicular n., the median depre ion in the upper border of the sternum. inter condyloid n., the notch between the condyles of the femur. inter lobar n., the notch on the ventral border of the liver between the right and left lobes. inter tragic n., the notch between the tragus and 650 NOVARGAN the antitragus. intervertebral n., a depre ion of the intervertebral icles on the upper or lower surface. ischiatic n., the sacrosciatic notch. n., an indentation that forms the posterior boundary of the jugular foramen. lacrimal D., the notch in the edgt of the orbital surface of the superior maxillary bone which receives the lacrimal bone. mandibular n. Same as sigmoid n. marsupial n., the incisura cerebelli posterior. mastoid n., the digastric fo a. n., the interval between the internal angular proce es of the frontal bone. pancreatic n., a depre ion on the posterior surface of the pancreas for the superior mesenteric ve els. parotid n., the notch between the ramus of the mandible and the mastoid proce of the temporal bone. popliteal n., a depre ion of the posterior surface of the head of the tibia, between the two tuberosities. pre occipital n., a notch on the lower edge of the external surface of a cerebral hemisphere, between the occipital and temporal lobes. pre sternal n., the interclavicular notch. pterygoid n., the notch between the pterygoid proce es of the sphenoid bone. radial n., the le er sigmoid cavity of the ulna. n. of Rivinus, a groove in the o eous tympanic ring filled with Shrapnell’s membrane. sacrosciatic n., either one of two notches (greater and le er) on the posterior border of the innominate bone. scapular n. Same as supra scapular n. sciatic n., sacrosciatic notch. semilunar n. See coracoid n. Sibson’s n., an inward bend of the left upper limit of precordial dulne in acute pericardial effusion. sigmoid n., a deep depre ion which separates the coronoid and condyloid proce es. sphenopalatine n., the space between the orbital and sphenoid proce es of the palate bone. sternal n., the interclavicular notch. supraorbital m., a notch near the middle of the supraorbital arch. supra scapular n., a depre ion in the superior border of the scapula. supra sternal., a depre ion at the top of the manubrium. eminal n., a notch in the superior border of the petrosal near the apex, transmitting the trigeminal nerve. ic m. Same as a. of Rivinus. ulnar n., the sigmoid cavity of the ulna. umbilical n., the anterior notch of the iver. note-blindne (nét’blind-nes). Lo of the power of recognizing musical notes by the eye.
