n. Ku3p'l. Fr., c. A pair; especially in physics the pair of elements composing a galvanic cell. [BJC. -rhythm. See under RHYTHM. Thermo-electric c. Ac. in which the application of heat gives rise to an electrical current. A simple form is made by soldering a bar of bismuth to one of antimony. On heating the c. at the point of junction of the two metals, a current is generated that pa es from the bismuth to the antimony.
