[For etym, see ANADROMOUS.] Any fish which ascends rivers the eel, for instance. ăn-ad-rom-ous, a . [Gr. ἀνάδρομος (απαdromos) = running up, as a fish "running up" a river: ἀvá ( ana ) = up, and δρόμος (dromos) = a course, or running; δραμεῖν ( dramein ), pr. inf in., and δέδρομα ( dedroma ), 2 perf. of τρέχω (trecho) to run.] Pertaining to such fishes as at certain seasons ascend rivers.
