Wigs

Artificial head-dre es for both men and women were always in use. Apparently men shaved their heads, and for full-dre occasions put on a wig. Two kinds are distinguished on the monuments, the one short and imitating curly hair, and the other long. The details and arrangements of them vary at different periods and according to current fashions, but the two kinds always prevailed. The ladies’ wigs were invariably long, though the fashion of the coiffure changed continually. They were usually made of human hair mixed with sheep’s wool.
