(Lat.) The womb, or the muscular and vascular part of the efferent canal or tract in the female viviparous or ovo-viviparous animal, in which the ft*tu8 is developed. In the human subject and quadruman a it is single; in many quadrupeds it is bifid; in some, it is completely divided into two symmetrical uteri. [s. 1437]
