kangaroo-hound

(kang-ga-ré’hound), n. A kind of deer-hound or greyhound used in hunting kangaroos in Australia. Also kangaroo-dog. kangaroo-mouse (kang-ga-r6’mous), ». An American rodent mammal of the family Saccomyide and genus Perognathus; a pocket-mouse. The kangaroo-mice are closely related to the species of Dipodomys (see kangaroo-rat, 2), but are smaller. They inhabit the same parts of the United States.
