An apparatus in connection with a deep-sea-lead and line fitted with a fan, a register, etc., for the purpose of indicating * the depth of water when sounding, which it registers even when a ship is running, therefore avoiding the nece ity for heaving a ve el to; as frequently required, when using the common lead and line only.
