Morris, Lewis

(1726-1798), was a delegate from New York to the Continental Congre from 1775 to 1777. He was a commi ioner to the Western Indians in 1775 to induce them to join the colonists against the British. He signed the Declaration of Independence. He was major-general of the New York State Militia.
