(brēd'ing.) (Husbandry.) The rearing of cattle or live-stock of different kinds, particularly by cro ing or intermixing one kind or variety with another, so as to improve the species. Breeding in and in, is a term significative of the system of close breeding now very generally adopted in the rearing of blood horses, and also the finer varieties of bovine animals. [s. 114]
