[Gr. ἀδήν ( aden ) = a gland; φῦμα, οι φύμα (phuma), in Lat. phyma = a growth, a tumour, fr. φύω (phuō) = to bring forth.] Med.: The swelling of a gland. When the liver is thus affected, the term used is hepato phyma; when the groin, then it is bubo . ǎd'-ěn-os, s. "Marine cotton," a species of cotton brought from Aleppo.
