D.D. (Iowa College, Grinnell, Io.; Yale College, New Haven, Conn., both 1869), Congregationalist; b. at East Windsor, Conn., Feb. 11, 1815; graduated at Yale College, New Haven, Conn., 1839, and at Yale Theological Seminary, 1844; was tutor in Yale College, 1842-44; pastor of Plymouth Congregational Church, Framing ham, Ma ., 1844-51; secretary of the American Educational Society and American College and Educational Society, Boston, 1851-84.
