i. [A frequent. from wave (1), v.; Α. S. wafre = wandering, restle ; cogn. with Icel. vafra =to hover about; Norw.vavra =to flap about.] 1. To play or move here and there, or to and fro; to move one way and the other; to flutter. "It wavers as long as it is free, and is at rest when it can choose no more." - Bp.
