Any compound of albumin with a base or an acid, one of a cla of proteins characterized by their solubility in dilute acids or alkalis, and by being insoluble in dilute salt solutions, water, or alcohol; called also derived albumin and derived protein. acid-a's are obtained by the action of a dilute acid on a native protein; alkali-a’s, by the action of alkalis on native proteins.
