Gilding by means of an amalgam of gold from which the mercury is afterward driven off by heat. Also called mercurial gilding, and water - gilding, in allusion to the semi-liquid character of the amalgam. wash-gravel (wosh'gravel), n. Same as wash dirt. wash-hand basin (wosh'hand ba"sn), n.
