In bot., one of the two parts of a cell which is constricted in the middle, as in the Desmid i aceæ. semi-centennial (semi-sen-ten'i-al), a. and n. I. a. Occurring at the end of, or celebrating the completion of, fifty years, or half a century: as, a semi- centennial celebration. II. n.
